OOC: I've been playing RPGs since the red box of D&D (over 20 years). My favorite setting of all time was Twilight 2000, which was put out by GDW. Kinda like Fallout without the full nuclear exchange.
As for Henry...
Henry was born 22 years ago in some forgotten wasteland town, no different than most. His life changed though as soon as he was out of the womb, however. His mother died during the delivery, not something that uncommon in the wastes. Since his father had died the summer before, Henry was an orphan mere moments into the world. A child
without parents was of little use in this village, and Henry would have been left in the wastes to die if fortune had not smiled upon him. The doctor who had delivered him was not of the town, but instead a traveller who offered his services. He was also a ghoul, who had lived a long life, and of course had no children of his own. He took pity on the child and decided to raise him as his own.
For nearly 20 years the two travelled the wastes, helping those that could pay and even a few that could not. Henry proved an able assistant to his father, who taught him the basics of tending wounds and imparting a knowledge of the natural remedies that could aid in their work. He also taught him how to defend himself in the wastes. Doc Halladay had planned to teach his son all of his medical skills as well someday, but that dream was cut short one night.
Doc and Henry had stopped in a town to serve the locals. After mending a few wounds, the two bedded down for the night. After only a few hours, they awoke to sounds of gunfire. Suddenly the door flew open and a grizzled figure burst into the room. "Fuckin' ghoul" was all he said and opened fire into Doc. Henry made for the gun he kept at his bedside. In one motion, he laid took out the raider with a shot to the chest. Henry then turned to Doc, but it was took late: the raider's bullet had hit him in the cheek and he had died instantly. Fighting back tears, Henry gathered their few belongings, said a quick prayer and ran.
In the two years since that fateful night, Henry has tried to follow in his father's foot steps. Unfortunately, his memories still haunt him and have caused him to lose much of his trust in people.
